Established in Meaux since its creation in 2011, the Musée de la Grande Guerre du Pays de Meaux is a cultural and historical venue unique in the Paris region. Through the museum's permanent collections, (re)discover this piece of history with over 70,000 objects and documents, and immerse yourself in the heart of daily life during the First World War, from 1914 to 1918.
Covering more than 3,000 m², the museum traces thehistory of the First World War, from its origins to the key dates of the conflict, including the weapons used, the daily lives of civilians and soldiers, uniforms... The museum boasts one of the richest collections on the 14-18 war, and presents its many historical documents in an innovative, interactive scenography. For families, the museum even offers game booklets to help young visitors get the most out of their visit!
The Musée de la Grande Guerre is open every day except Tuesday, from 9.30am to 6pm, except May 1, December 25 and January 1. Admission is free on the 1st Sunday of the month, otherwise €10 for full price, €8 for reduced price (students, pensioners, jobseekers, under 26s...), bearing in mind that there is also a family pass, including two adults and two minor children for €28. The entire museum is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
To get to the museum, take the Transilien line P (Meaux stop) or the RER A to Marne-la-Vallée Chessy (Marne-la-Vallée stop, then bus 19 to Meaux station). Then it's just a 10-minute walk from Meaux station. A free shuttle bus runs between Meaux station and the museum every weekend throughout the year, as well as every day during zone C school vacations.
