In the heart of the town of Meaux, in the Seine-et-Marne département, take a behind-the-scenes look at Brie de Meaux, the region's most famous cheese, during a visit to the museum dedicated to it: the Maison du Brie de Meaux. Step through the door and embark on a journey of discovery around Brie de Meaux PDO (Protected Designation of Origin).
From harvesting the milk to maturing in the cellar, through the various stages of conception, discover how Brie de Meaux is made, and even taste it on certain days (Saturdays and Sundays only).
Did you know? Brie de Meaux is the object of a confrérie, whose members' dress is reminiscent of the cheese's circular shape. Among other things, its members can be found every year at the Salon de l'Agriculture.
Price: €6 for a visit with tasting (Saturdays and Sundays only), €4 for a visit without tasting, and €3 to €4.50 for concessions. The Maison du Brie de Meaux is open daily from 10am to 12:30pm and 2pm to 6pm, except Mondays. The site is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
To get there by public transport, you can take the Transilien line P (from Gare de l'Est) towards La Ferté Milon or Château Thierry and get off at the Meaux stop. Enjoy your visit to the Maison du Brie de Meaux!
