Echoing the Passage of the Olympic Flame at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, the museum rises to the challenge with an artistic tour de force, right in the spirit of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Until September 9, 2024, the Fondation invites you to its exhibition "La Collection, Rendez-vous avec le Sport", for a stroll halfway between art and adrenaline.
At a glance, you'll be drawn into the polyphony of works by five renowned French and international artists. Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andreas Gursky, Omar Victor Diop, Abraham Poincheval and Roman Signer are a creative powerhouse lining the walls of 3 dedicated rooms.
In Galerie 9, Abraham Poincheval takes you for a ride in the clouds with his aerial performance "Walk on Clouds, 2019". In this space, a projected film reveals the artist defying gravity.
Then, take to the snow-covered slopes of the Swiss mountains with Andreas Gursky and his impressive photograph "Engadin, 1995". An epic fusion of man and nature, where determination merges with the immensity of the landscape.
A change of scenery in Galerie 11, which swaps skis for kayaks in Roman Signer's bizarre installation "Installation mit Kajaks, 2003".
After this new kind of sculpture, Omar Victor Diop takes over with "Diaspora", a gallery of striking portraits of famous African figures from the 16th to the 19th century, all embodied by the artist himself. These characters, adorned in their uniforms, are diverted by unexpected accessories from the world of sport.
Finally, end your stroll in style with the Basquiat and Warhol duo and their iconic work "Olympic Rings, 1985", which celebrates the Olympic spirit and the diversity of cultures.
So what are you waiting for to join the movement?"La Collection, Rendez-vous avec le Sport" is on view at the Fondation Louis Vuitton until September 9, 2024!
