In 2000, Lask entered the Institut Pratique du Journalisme in Paris and joined a French weekly news magazine. 5 years later, suffering from cancer, she spent 2 years in a wheelchair. Painting was a revelation in 2022, and she uses materials and colors to express her emotions and her rebirth.
"Standing in front of a canvas, it's like the world disappears, and all that's left are my emotions, spread out in color. When you go through something as intense as cancer, you come face to face with yourself, your fears, your pain, and also your immense solitude.
Painting has enabled me to rediscover a part of myself that I had lost, that inner strength that drives us on, to fight on. This is the message I want to convey through my canvases: no matter how deep the darkness, there's always a light somewhere, a possibility of rebirth.
Offering my paintings for this cause is a way for me to give back what life has given me. I know what it's like to feel helpless in the face of disease, and I want these young people to be able, for a moment, to forget their struggle and live an extraordinary experience.
The sale will be orchestrated by Marielle Digard, auctioneer with Maison DIGARD AUCTION, in the Salle des Arcades at Pais Town Hall.
