The Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris takes us to the most extreme corners of the planet, with the "Déserts" exhibition, on view from April 2 to November 30, 2025.

When we think of the desert, most of us imagine vast, lifeless expanses, hills of sun-scorched sand, lost oases that make travelers dream... But there's more to deserts than meets the eye. The Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris takes us on a voyage of discovery of the planet's different deserts.

In an exhibition event organized in the Grande galerie de l'Evolution, from April 2 to November 30, 2025, the science museum takes us on an unprecedented journey through some of the most hostile and extraordinary places on Earth. From the famous Sahara to the ice deserts of Atacama, Sonora and Gobi, get ready for an astonishing journey that should shatter a few preconceived ideas.

Deserts can be found on every continent, each with its own particular characteristics. The exhibition brings together almost 200 different specimens and objects, alongside multimedia devices and large-scale projections, taking us into little-known lands.

Desert of sand, stone, snow, salt... In these extreme lands, life is scarce... But it's there all the same! The exhibition reveals how animals and plants evolve, adapt and organize themselves in these very special environments. We discover a unique biodiversity, as astonishing as it is fascinating.

Humans also venture into these lands: the Museum explores the different techniques used by man to survive in these extreme climates, while assessing the impact of human activities on these fragile little worlds.

An intriguing exhibition, to be discovered from spring 2025 at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle.
