From October 16, 2024 to January 18, 2025, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie presents Science-Fiction, an unusual exhibition that plunges us into the heart of the living world.

Science/Fiction, a non-history of plants traces the (at least visual) history of plants through art, technology and science, from the 19th century to the present day. From unique specimens growing on Socotra Island, Yemen, to Anna Atkins' cyanotypes, contemporary art and botany come together in an exhibition rich in discoveries about the living world.

Conceived in six chapters - in the manner of a true science fiction novel after all - the exhibition puts plants centre stage: they are the heroines of this tale. First studied through the prism of science, it's then up to the art world to make them its subject, offering viewers a more experimental look at our planet's living world.

Among the artists on show are Karl Blossfeldt (and his inventory of plant forms), Laure Albin 's microscope experiments, and works by Jochen Lempert, Pierre Joseph and Angelica Mesiti...

The exhibition Science/Fiction, a non-history of plants, is presented at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie from October 16, 2034 to January 18, 2025. Admission is €14 full price, and €9 to €11 reduced price (under 25, unemployed, over 65).
