Music, photography, art: the life and career of Dennis Morris are revealed in images full of life and poetry, at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie. The MEP invites us to discover this British artist through the exhibition Dennis Morris: Music + Life, organized from February 5 to May 18, 2025.
This retrospective brings together a wide range of images, from his youth in London to his greatest successes with Bob Marley and the Sex Pistols, Oasis, Stone Roses, Marianne Faithfull... His passion and patience have won him the trust of great musicians, and enabled him to capture unique moments and emotions. These intimate relationships bring out the real, more sincere personalities of these artists.
On stage or backstage, in the studio or on location... Dennis Morris has been able to follow these singing stars at close quarters, even becoming artistic director for several of them. Thanks to his artist's vision and instinct, he was able to reinvent music marketing and play with images to build reputations and legends that are still indispensable today. He has created numerous iconic portraits of Bob Marley and the Sex Pistols, as well as album covers and designs...
Through the world of music, Dennis Morris has also revealed the faces of multicultural England. Immigration, new identities, youth breaking codes or communities on the margins: in these more documentary photographs, the artist highlights counter-cultures and the working classes of the British population, at a time when the world had to reinvent and redefine itself.
Don't miss this major tribute exhibition at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie from early 2025.
