An unprecedented dive into art brut at the Grand Palais... The museum hosts the exhibition Art Brut: Dans l'intimité d'une collection se from June 6 to September 21, 2025. Organized in partnership with the Centre Pompidou, this retrospective showcases over 300 works from the Bruno Decharme donation. Through these creations, often produced outside traditional artistic circuits, the exhibition offers a singular exploration of the unsuspected riches ofart brut.
Bruno Decharme, a passionate collector, has devoted forty-five years to bringing together these atypical works. These works, often discovered by chance or thanks to the artists' friends and family, illustrate the creativity of personalities evolving on the bangs of social and cultural norms. "These creations, born outside the recognized art world [...] today constitute an important part of art history", emphasizes a press release from the Grand Palais.
Conceived as a jigsaw puzzle, the exhibition reflects the diversity of themes and approaches inherent in Art Brut. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in a multitude of forms and expressions, testifying to the capacity of the human spirit to free itself from convention. An opportunity to discover a unique artistic universe, through an exhibition co-produced by the Grand Palais and the Centre Pompidou.
