Nuits de la lecture 2024: discover the literary program in Paris and the Île-de-France region

Les Nuits de la Lecture return to our Parisian libraries and bookshops, from January 18 to 21, 2024. Around the theme of the body, meet writers, enjoy readings and exceptional tours.

Initiated by the French Ministry of Culture, the Nuits de la Lecture (Reading Nights ) aim to give French people of all ages a taste for reading, with free events tailored to different types of readers. For this 8th edition, the theme of the body invites all readers to come together to put books at the heart of our lives for a few days, from January 18 to 21, 2024, shortly before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Celebrated throughout France, the Nuits de la Lecture (Reading Nights) offer four evenings in Paris and the Île-de-France region dedicated to books and authors, in bookshops, libraries, schools, museums and cultural and artistic venues. Join in this popular celebration of thelove of books, with poetry readings, writing workshops, meetings and exceptional tours.

The Nuits de la Lecture program in Paris and the Paris Region

  • Inauguration at the Musée des Arts décoratifs de Paris (MAD ), with an exceptional nocturne punctuated by staged readings in the Fashion and Sport and Iris van Herpen exhibition spaces.
  • At the Centre Pompidou, writer Yannick Haenel will present his new book Bleu Bacon, inspired by his night spent in the "Bacon en toutes lettres" exhibition. The evening will be followed by performance readings with DJ and concert organized by the Littérature Supersport collective as part of the Hors Pistes festival.
  • The Institut de France will exceptionally open its doors to the public to listen to astonishing readings by its academicians under the dome, punctuated by theatrical, choreographic and musical interludes.
  • The Centre national du livre (CNL ) will be organizing a round-table discussion with writer and philosopher Claire Marin, godmother of this 8th edition, and writer Pierre Ducrozet. It will be followed by a literary concert orchestrated by DJ Rubin Steiner.
  • The Jean Taris swimming pool (Paris5th), will offer swimmers the chance to enjoy texts read by Claire Marin, Pierre Ducrozet, Colombe Schneck, Hugo Boris and Julie Gaucher, for a dive into literature.
  • Starting at 10pm,RATP passengers will hear extracts from literary classics put into voice by Comédie-Française members Éric Ruf, Léna Tournier Bernard and Élodie Laurent.
