As you stroll through the Bois de Vincennes, you may have noticed that, after a while, you come across a man-made lake to the east of the Bois, not far from the Jardin d'Agronomie Tropicale and the Jardin de l'École du Breuil. This mini-lake (in comparison to Lac Daumesnil) is Lac des Minimes, one of the four lakes in the Bois de Vincennes, and above all it's a great place to take a stroll, go jogging or spend the day in the fresh air as soon as the fine weather returns!
As soon as spring returns, Lac des Minimes can be explored aboard small boats available for hire, while for the rest of the year, you can enjoy a family outing by bike or on foot. The paths are accessible to baby carriages - or at least, it's not uncommon to see one. By the lake, you'll find an intriguing yellow chalet, Rosa Bonheur's guinguette to the east, like the ones that used to flourish on the banks of the Marne.
For boat hire:
- cost €10 for an hour for 1 or 2 people, €12 for an hour for 3/4/5 people (€10 deposit for all boats)
- rental is open from March 1 to November 30, every day from 1.30 pm to 7 pm (last departure at 6 pm).
