La Tour d'Argent, that jewel of French gastronomy nestling on the Quai de la Tournelle in Paris's 5th arrondissement, needs no introduction. After a major renovation and reopening this summer, this Parisian institution has decided to surprise us with its first-ever brunch. Proof that the historic house is intent on attracting a younger clientele, always keen on Sunday brunch. A golden opportunity for gourmets to discover or rediscover this legendary address in a cosy fireside setting.
Brunch at the newly inauguratedLa Tour d'Argent is priced at €65. As you'd expect, it's aimed at a varied clientele, from tourists to Parisians looking for a refined gastronomic experience in elegant surroundings.
The brunch atmosphere is convivial, with two distinct spaces on the first floor to welcome us: the Maillets d'Argent bar and a small adjacent lounge. The latter, with its cosy decor, sofas, velvet armchairs, library and fireplace, creates a warm atmosphere, perfect for a Sunday brunch .
Michelin-starred chef Yannick Franques, who oversees this new offering, explains that the introduction of brunch was motivated by growing customer demand. Sunday breakfast has been discontinued to make way for this new gourmet offering. To achieve this, some of the staff usually dedicated to the gourmet restaurant, which is closed on Sundays, are being called in to ensure impeccable service.
But let's get back to gastronomy. The counter is richly stocked with all kinds of starters, charcuterie, cheeses and salads . Brunch at La Tour d' Argent offers a generous selection of dishes, from breakfast staples to more elaborate fare. Enjoy marinated salmon, fish rillettes, white tarama, mimosa eggs, Mazarine duck terrine with homemade orange, charcuterie from the Paris region, lentil salad with foie gras, lobster boulgour, all accompanied by special breads and pastries from Fournil de la Tour, just across the street.
If you still have an appetite, don't miss the duck bourguignon, an emblematic La Tour d'Argent dish, served with Ratte à la buée potatoes and baby vegetables.
For those with a sweet tooth, brunch offers a variety of desserts, including chocolate mousse, exotic fruit panna cotta and fresh fruit salad. The menu also includes classic French pastries such as croissants, pains au chocolat, financiers au praliné, tarte Bourdaloue and galette des Rois. We accompany this morning feast with a selection of fresh fruit juices and hot drinks.
