Babka Zana is this gourmet Levantine bakery that opened its doors at the very beginning of the year in the 9th arrondissement. On the menu, cakes, rolls, pies and of course the famous babkas with a thousand flavors : chocolate-hazelnut, pistachio-orange blossom, halva-lemon or cinnamon-muscovado.
Today, the Levantine bakery has a savory version, with a multitude of new products that will brighten up your lunch breaks: salted babka with Kalamata olives, Tunisian sandwich... We reveal you everything!
Made with homemade hallah bread, a traditional braided bread lightly brioche and without butter, Babka Zana's sandwiches have already conquered many gourmets with various recipes such as the vegetarian Sabich, the Reuben with pastrami, the Caesar with tuna and the homemade Gravlax.
From now on, we discover a new sunny sandwich: the Tunisian (8,50€) made with a round hallah filled with a homemade virgin sauce with harissa and beldi lemon, potatoes, Sidi Daoud Tunisian tuna, hard-boiled egg and kalamata olives.
Babka Zana's babkas are now also available in a savory version with the Babkalamata (11€), in collaboration with the Kalios house. The hallah dough is made with a grand cru olive oil, produced from hand-picked Koroneiki olives. For the filling, Babka Zana chose the olive Mezé: a fleshy olive from Kalamata with a strong taste.
Poppy, sesame, multigrain or plain, Babka Zana's traditional hallot are nicely braided and plump. For summer 2020, Babka Zana unveils two new recipes of hallot in olive oil (4€). Embellished with rosemary and fleur de sel or zaatar, they are perfect to accompany a meal or to eat as an appetizer.
