With two excellent exhibitions, one devoted to the representation of the suburbs in French painting, the other to the wardrobe of Empress Josephine, the town of Rueil-Malmaison is the ideal destination for a cultural weekend with the family. And when you think of exhibitions, you think of snacks! That's why we went in search of a nice address, which we found at the Relais de la Malmaison.
Housed in the main pavilion of this hotel, spa and golf complex, Les Terrasses du Relais offers a simple, well-executed menu, including a remarkable pheasant terrine with chanterelle mushrooms (with a top-notch artichoke mousse), an excellent risotto with lobster bisque and fresh prawns, a perfect fillet of beef and a very reasonable crumble-style pear tart.
With no fuss or extravagance, the menu offers a tight selection of classic dishes, including oysters and foie gras, making for a warm and inviting dinner... And on Sundays, it's brunch time! With a dozen or so events a year, the place offers theme days during which children's entertainers accompany the imposing hot and cold buffet. Next date: December 18, for a much-anticipated Christmas brunch.
A final detail: the hotel has a few beehives and makes its own honey!
