The flagship of the Mavrommatis brothers' group, their eponymous gourmet restaurant, founded in 1993, has been delighting lovers of Greek flavors and products for many years. A consistency that the Michelin Guide even crowned with a star in the 2018 edition of its famous red guide.
Skilfully blending Greek tradition and " Parisian chic ", the Mavrommatis setting has been designed in a sculptural vaulted space, with arches and pierced niches that almost seem to have been carved out of a piece of mountain on the island of Santorini, with its rounded scrolls and alabaster walls reminiscent of the whitewashed walls of Greek houses.
All the materials used are immaculate, as if "washed" by the Aegean Sea and patinated by salt and sun. The floor is tiled with large slabs of pale marble. The immaculate walls are adorned here and there with carved or inlaid raw walnut, sometimes with openwork, revealing in places the kitchen, where the brigade is busy.
A grand walnut staircase leads upstairs, where private lounges - Costa Gavras and Georges Moustaki - and a bar welcome guests seeking privacy.
On the welcome plates, placed upside down on the tables, we discover the Mavrommatis emblem, which was once designed by Georges Moustaki, who was until his death a faithful among the faithful.
While Andréas Mavrommatis, who has been at the helm of the restaurant since its inception, initially offered his customers the chance to discover his country's gastronomy in a modernized and refined version, it has to be said that we can no longer really speak of Greek cuisine today, as the culinary project of the house has matured and evolved considerably over the years.
Today, it's a menu offering creative cuisine based on the finest local Greek produce, but prepared using the most advanced techniques of French haute gastronomy.
If you want to discover the full extent ofAndreas Mavrommatis's talent and creativity, do as we do, and choose one of the house's tasting menus without hesitation: the five-course Discovery Menu at €110 and the seven-course Signature Menu at €150, as well as the 4-course Initiation Menu at €89.
