It's fair to say that Paris is a magical city where you can sample gastronomy from all over the world, including cutting-edge specialties you'd never expect to find in the City of Light. For street-food lovers , this time we're taking you to Road Trip, the new address that will take your taste buds on the road!
The address is 36 rue Poissonnière, a stone's throw from the Grand Rex. Its radiant yellow storefront attracts curious glances. The front promises gourmet hot dogs with organic artisan bread, halal poultry and turkey sausages, and mostly homemade condiments and sauces. That's all it takes to lure us in.
So here you are, at a family-run address imagined by four sisters with a passion for travel and a desire to introduce Parisians to flavors from elsewhere through street-food. This Road Trip is brought to life through imaginative recipes that give us a taste for discovery!
Our first stop in the United States is the US Dog, made with relish, mustard, ketchup and fried onions. It's one of Road Trip 's biggest hits, and it's easy to see why: the flavors and textures are perfectly balanced to give us a true gourmet American hot dog!
We then venture further south for the Mexican Dog. We love the homemade guacamole with enough acidity to awaken the taste buds, the crunchiness of the corn and the cheddar cheese au gratin. Then it's back to Europe, this time for theItalian Dog, our favorite! The basil-laden homemade green pesto literally enchants us, and goes perfectly with the mozzarella au gratin and sun-dried tomatoes.
Finally, our journey comes to an end with the French Dog, another best-seller, which delights us with its homemade onion confit and melting brie, whose taste is strong enough not to overpower the other flavors. As a side dish, you can opt for a Mac and Cheese, Nachos or a salad of the moment, depending on your inspiration!
If you took a peek through the window before entering Road Trip, you'll no doubt have spotted some unusual fish-shaped waffles. This is the spot's second specialty: taiyaki. So, what exactly is taiyaki?
Taiyaki are Japanese waffles shaped like fish. Sea bream, to be precise, since it's a lucky dish in Japan. But here, the Road Trip dream team has revisited the recipe for these delicacies: here, they're halfway between a pancake and a madeleine. They can be filled with chocolate, salted butter caramel, maple syrup or speculos. What we also love is that the format has been redesigned to make taiyaki even easier to eat: instead of a large waffle, you can enjoy a portion of five small fish. So you can indulge in an assortment of flavors!
So, are you ready for your trip?
