Head to the Marais, by the Halles to discover Janet by Homer, the latest sandwich counter created by 2018 Lobster Roll World’s Champion Moïse Sfez, delighting us since 2017 with his Homer Lobster street food eateries.
This year, the chef has decided to keep indulging us with a new concept he would like to spread in town for tasty and homemade street food fans’ greatest joy. He wants to open delis like in New York.
For the concept, he got inspired by the 50’s Jewish Delis. Here, this is a takeout counter, but the place features a dozen seats so you can eat while watching sandwiches being made in front of you.
The star at Janet by Homer is the corned beef sandwich with beef pastrami. To delight us, everything is homemade, from the bread to sauces, to pastrami that is brined and spiced 8 to 10 days. Beef is then boiled and smoked to get a nice and smooth texture.
As for the choice of the beef cut, nothing has been left to chance since Moïse has picked the tender flesh of Wagyu beef, from the EU.
When we came, we went for two versions of the Corned beef sandwich: the Langer’s with Swiss cheese, sauerkraut or coleslaw, perfect for melted cheese fans, and the signature Janet we highly recommend with sweet mustard, caramelized onions and pickles.
We also went for the BBQ Beef Roll. Served in the same bun than the group’s lobster rolls, this sandwich is filled with 8-hour cooked and pulled beef – that was candied and caramelized again for an extra 2 hours – and BBQ sauce.
In other words, only scrumptious food. The Hot Dogs are not available yet, but note that even sausages (beef-based, its Koscher-friendly) are homemade.
We loved the tasty homemade lemonade, and we finished on a beautiful note with a Nutella Roll in a bun for sweet-toothed.
Shall we go on a tasty tour at Janet by Homer, then?
