Calling all lovers of good street food restaurants! Head for the brand-new Yansai Gravilliers, which has just opened in the 3rd arrondissement of central Paris, much to our delight. Yansai, by the way, is a restaurant already delighting our taste buds in the Batignolles district. More of a counter than a restaurant, the Batignolles spot is always busy, delighting gourmets in search of real homemade products. But the 17th is off-center," says Thomas, who launched his concept in 2018. To capture a wider customer base, he decided to open a larger restaurant (on two floors) in the center of Paris.
At the time, he had taken over his parents' Chinese catering business to get started. So he didn't have a choice of location. A big fan of burgers, he wanted to launch his concept by standing out from the crowd. He decided to offer Asian burgers inspired by the Taiwanese Gua Bao, a novelty little known a few years ago.
To enrich his menu, he decided not to focus on a particular Asian cuisine or country, but to offer his favorite dishes, while sticking to traditional recipes for the most part. So, in addition to Taiwanese gua bao and candied eggplant, don't be surprised to find Japanese karaage, Vietnamese egg rolls, Vietnamese coffee and even fresh French fries.
On the main course, you'll find Kare Raisu (Japanese curry), Bap (Japanese rice), Bobun and Karaage Don. What we like about Yansai is its authentic, home-cooked cuisine. Indeed, there are very few places where Gua Bao is actually homemade (many buy it frozen). We particularly recommend the pork version, with its incomparable melt-in-the-mouth texture. We also love the karaage, both crispy and soft in the center, and the candied eggplant, which is a real treat.
For dessert, the house offers two unusual sweets: the Boa Celeste, a cinnamon-flavored bao fritter topped with condensed milk (ultra-regressive), and theIce Burger in bao mode topped with matcha or black sesame ice cream, a delicious hot-cold combination.
In short, if you're already a fan of Yansai Batignolles, you're going to love sitting down to dinner with friends in the center of Paris at Yansai Gravilliers, which promises us new recipes to come. If you haven't already, try it and you'll love it. As far as prices are concerned, Yansai Gravilliers is a very affordable place for homemade, labor-intensive dishes! Note that Yansai is available on all delivery platforms and of course, ideal to take away too.
