"Bertine is the nickname of Albertine, my great-grandmother from Brittany, who taught the whole family how to make crêpes and galettes," says Benjamin, who set up the restaurant with his mom. Behind the stoves, or rather behind the crêpières, it's his mom, Laura, who prepares the crêpes on demand. After more than thirty years making crêpes in restaurants and small shops in the Montparnasse district, she wanted to have "her own thing": so, in 2021, the Bertine crêperie opened its doors. On the menu? A warm atmosphere, a welcoming and truly authentic place where everything is homemade.
At lunchtime, you'll love the €18 all-inclusive formula - a galette, a crêpe and a drink - or the more elaborate in-house recipes, such as the galette chèvre épinard crème, roquefort noix, saumon fumé citron et crème... Or the unmissable Breton recipes, with andouille de Guéméné, sausage fromage oignon, etc. The good news is that each galette (and crêpe) is doubled, meaning that instead of a single crêpe on which to place your filling, Laura puts one underneath, one on top, for a truly hearty dish. Smaller appetites can opt for the single-crepe option, which costs €1 less per recipe.
On the sweet side, gourmandise is the order of the day, with butter-sugar toppings, jam, homemade chocolate, Nutella, salted butter caramel, honey-lemon, banana flambéed with rum... Prices range from €7 to €15 for buckwheat galettes (savory) and €6 to €9 for crêpes de froment (sweet). For a generous, gourmet address that feels just like home, head for crêperie Bertine, in the 11th arrondissement!
