Do you love seafood? If so, here's a favorite address for a meal on the open seas. This time, we're leaving Paris for the charming town of Vincennes, just a metro ride away, to discover a neighborhood nugget with a friendly spirit. Quilles & Coquilles is the place to be for shellfish lovers. In this new-generation seafood bar, friends and family gather to enjoy seafood-flavored platters and tapas, reminiscent of seaside vacations.
Here, you'll enjoy good value for money and a varied selection of products that change according to arrivals. On the menu, in addition to platters to share, you can compose your own table: you'll find one of the oysters from Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue - Maison Hélie, crab or spider crab claws, whelks, shrimps accompanied by homemade aioli, as well as more advanced tapas priced around ten euros: Razor clams in parsley sauce, squid saganaki, sea bass carpaccio, ceviche of the day and marinated boquerone are just some of the dishes on the menu. And for those who might be tempted to return to terra firma, there are also alternatives featuring rillettes, charcuterie, sausages and cheeses.
We appreciate the home-like atmosphere of this address, with a friendly, attentive team driven by a desire to share and a pride in highlighting small producers promising great flavors. During our visit, we couldn't resist the calamari saganaki, a real favorite, with its creamy tomato, bell pepper and feta compote that transports us straight to Greece, nor the juicy, slightly crispy razor clams with parsley. We're also tempted by the L'Aura seafood platter at €58, featuring an assortment of a dozen oysters (n°3 - n°2 - spécial n°2), whelks and shrimps. Freshness for good value.
When it comes to drinks, there's no shortage of them: this gourmet counter offers a selection of wines from independent French winegrowers, from all regions. The idea is to let yourself be guided by the team's advice, according to the dishes you've chosen and your personal tastes, to make some wonderful discoveries.
To round off this iodized escapade, sweet tooths can also indulge in dessert. During our visit, it was the chocolate mousse that caught our eye, with its cocoa and mineral notes providing the perfect finishing touch to this dinner. Finally, if you'd like to extend the experience at home, the address also has a grocery section and offers takeaway trays.
