If you've become a regular of the famous street-food chain'El Guacamole', which opened 6 years ago in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, then smile, because the team behind this 100% Mexican taqueria has opened a new, second address in the capital.
This time, we're heading for the 18th arrondissement to push open the doors of ACÀ Pigalle. With its resolutely authentic yet modern decor, the restaurant features a central kitchen that is totally open to the dining room. It's an opportunity to admire the taqueros busy concocting 100% Mexican recipes: burros, tacos and quesadillas take center stage. The recipes are created by the chef, a native of Sonora in northern Mexico, using fresh local produce and spices sourced directly from Mexico.
Taco aficionados (with a wheat or corn flour base) can choose from some twenty different recipes, each as tempting as the next: orange-marinated pork, grilled chicken, chorizo, spiced shredded beef, mushrooms, avocado or black beans with melted cheese... whether you're a carnivore or a vegetarian, there's something for everyone! We loved the"Cochinita Pibil" with its delicious pork simmered in achiote.
And for fish lovers, three seafood tacos are on the menu. We strongly recommend you try the octopus taco with melted cheese and green chillies. A real, spicy delight!
We also fell head over heels for the vegetarian burros. Inside this large, supple, rolled patty, ACÀ really seduced our taste buds with mushrooms and, more surprisingly, nopales ( cactus). A generous and successful recipe with guacamole, salad, black beans, tomatoes and melted cheese.
As for the rest, you'll find the inevitable and delicious guacamole on the menu (discover the mango version for even more originality), as well as camaron ceviche and the famous nachos.
And if you'd like to end on a sweet note, opt for one of the classics of Mexican cuisine: pastel de tres leches, an airy, gourmet dessert soaked in milk sauce and topped with whipped cream and flaked almonds.
To accompany these Mexican specialties, whether eat-in or take-away, opt for a refreshing frozen margarita, one of the bottled Mexican beers or jarritos (sparkling fruit drinks).
Much more than just a restaurant dedicated to Mexican gastronomy, ACÀ Pigalle is a place where sharing, conviviality and the transmission of culture are the order of the day. So, are you ready for a memorable trip to Mexico thanks to ACÀ Pigalle?
