The Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) is one of the must-attend events on thecultural calendar in the Paris region. This event, synonymous with good deals, punctuates the back-to-school season and takes place every year on the third weekend of September. For the occasion, local residents and visitors are invited to discover the treasures of our heritage from a whole new angle. Many venues lend themselves to the game, so much so that it's always possible to find a program to match your passions. Museums, monuments, châteaux, but also libraries, fashion houses, gourmet spots, ministries and embassies- every year, a vast program enables us to discover our heritage from every angle in the four corners of the Île-de-France region.
If Paris knows how to attract the attention of its many admirers, on the other side of the ring road many nuggets also await the curious wishing to conquer lesser-known gems. In every department of the Paris region, you'll find a hyperactive program of events, so that wherever you are, you'll be able to find a program near you. Hauts-de-Seine is no exception! André Siniavski spent almost a quarter of a century in Fontenay-aux-Roses. He was one of the first Soviet dissidents, sentenced in 1966 to seven years in a camp, just for wanting to write fiction freely. When he was released, his exile to France with his family was a real event. The recent death of his wife, Maria Rozanova (1930-2023), provides an opportunity to retrace his career. From the anonymous publication in Esprit magazine of a text mocking socialist realism (1959) to his life at 8 rue Boris-Vildé. An opportunity to cross paths with a number of personalities, from Boris Pasternak to the incredible Hélène Peltier, not forgetting Iouli Daniel, co-accused in his Kafkaesque trial. It's also an opportunity to talk about a literary work that veers between autobiography and fantasy.
Author and translator, specialist in the Russian world, Georges Nivat has notably translated works by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. A regular visitor to Fontenay-aux-Roses, he has described André Siniavski as "the incarnation of the Russian man grappling with the History that is devouring him".
His latest work: L'archipel du Goulag, cinquante ans après (1973-2023), Alexandre Soljenitsyne, morceaux choisis, published by Fayard.
