This year, the Journées du Patrimoine are back for their 41st edition. This cultural event is a must for art, history and architecture enthusiasts, as well as for those curious enough to explore the treasures of the Paris region. Over the course of a weekend, monuments, museums, castles, churches and other sites usually inaccessible to the public welcome you with a program of visits, often free of charge, and original events for young and old. A fun and original way to discover our heritage in a new light!

While the imposing chapel he had built in 1899 is one of the cemetery's marvels, other graves are worth a visit for their sculptures or stained glass windows, which are listed in the general inventory of cultural heritage.

Resistance fighters in Clermont-Ferrand didn't wait until the final hours to demonstrate their courage and daring against the occupying forces. From England to the Ferrari hospice, from the rue Constant Pape pavilion to the basement of the rue de Vanves cinema, they hid Jews, escaped Allied airmen, sabotaged German networks and led attacks against the enemy. Many paid with their lives.
80 years ago, on August 19, 1944, resistance movements rose up across the suburbs in preparation for the Liberation of Paris. In Clamart, 14 people were shot at the May 8, 1945 crossroads. The monument erected in front of the Jardin Parisien school group commemorates this massacre. August 19, 1944 was also the day when the local Liberation Committee overthrew the municipality chosen by Vichy and once again raised the colors of France on the façade of the Town Hall. Over the following days, sporadic clashes took place between the FFI and the last remaining German troops, while the population erected barricades to prevent them from fleeing.
Finally, on August 24, 1944, the people of Clamart saw the arrival of the famous 2nd Armored Division: on that day, Clamart was the first town to be liberated in the Seine department!
