Paris isn’t the world’s or Europe’s cleanest city, we all know that. So, to make things change, Paris City Hall has announced new measures to ensure the city’s cleanliness that should be set up by the end of this year, and we couldn’t agree more!
First novelty, a mobile app called Dans ma rue [In my Street] allowing Parisians to notify trash on the pavement, tags on walls and every other incivility in just one click of the finger on their smartphones. Paris cleaning agents get the notification on smartphones and these “cleaning emergency” squads including 84 agents can step in in the afternoon using a (electric) vehicle.
The second novelty is the setting up of 3,000 anti-rat bins in the streets of the French capital. The bins have been tested this past spring and offer a larger capacity as well as boxes to prevent rodents from climbing inside and leave with trash. For smoking people, ashtrays will be set on the top so that they won’t have to throw their cigarette butts on the floor anymore.
Third novelty, always in the bin field, compacting bins will be set in Paris liveliest neighborhoods. They work with solar power and their capacity is much higher than classic bins.
Last but not least, 1,000 Trilib’ stations will be set all over Paris to encourage people to sort their trash!
