In the course of 2019, the city of Paris will open in the 6th arrondissement a Cité de l’Egalité et des Droits des Femmes – a place promoting women’s equality and rights – said to house voluntary, social and cultural activities.

Rue de Vaugirard, in Paris 6th arrondissement, a Cité de l’Egalité et des Droits des Femmes will open by mid-2019. This new place, symbolizing the commitment of the city of Paris to promote gender equality, will house voluntary, social and cultural activities.

By the summer 2019, we will create a Cité de l’Egalité et des Droits des Femmes, a place never-seen before in France that will be devoted to women and built by them” Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo said. “This Cité will be the standard bearer of the capital’s determined commitment to favor gender equality that is one of the major stakes of our society”.

The future Cité de l’Egalité et des Droits des Femmes – accessible to all men and women – aims at being a place to share experiences and meet people. It will house cultural and university events, symposiums as well as associations on call (office, trainings, living places, events), services to access rights, a day-time welcome for women facing difficulties and even health check-ups.

It will be a place of work, welcome, life, sharing and culture that will make visible the historic female heritage, what women bring to our society, their contemporary fights and at the same time a shelter for the most vulnerable ones”, Paris mayor deputy entrusted with gender equality Hélène Bidard says.

A place we’re eager to discover.
