In France, health measures to face the coronavirus epidemic are toughened up and harsher. While the government declares health emergency and the entire country is confined, regulations could become stricter.
Earlier this week, the confinement fine has been raised already. Yet, in some cities in France, behaviors against the health recommendations were reported. In Paris, for instance, we could observe these at some markets, on the Champ de Mars, the Esplanade des Invalides and by the Seine.
On day three of the confinement, Paris City Hall call Parisians to order. The day after, the Police Headquarters announce more controls in railway stations and the closure of some areas in town, starting from Friday March 20th, 2020, and this for the entire weekend. But could the regulations of the confinement in Paris go even further?
Prior to French President Emmanuel Macron’s address on Monday March 16th, 2020, rumor of a curfew from 6 p.m. have largely circulated. Ultimately, the partial confinement was announced. Five days later, if some already bet on extended confinement, the question about a curfew is asked more and more.
As a reaction to breaking the rules in some cities and shared on social networks, politicians want a tougher confinement and even the implementation of a curfew. In Nice, mayor Christian Estrosi has, for instance announced to implement one from 8 p.m. Members of the medical staff also called for a total confinement of the population.
So far, some French towns have set up a curfew this weekend (March 21st-22nd). Most of them are in South of France, or by the Belgian borders. In Île-de-France, some cities have implemented a curfew. From now one, outings are banned from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. in Colombes and Asnières sur Seine. In Puteaux, a curfew is also set up from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
