As we are confined because of the coronavirus epidemic, home delivery leader Amazon , as well as Fnac, Darty and even Cdiscount – as they saw orders increased dramatically – have announced to limit to delivering vital products. In concrete words, what does it mean?

In a mail sent to third party vendors, Amazon has announced they will no longer accept orders of less vital products. This decision involves Amazon products and products sent by Amazon.

A hard blow for people confined knowing that post offices are closing. After closing most offices and not delivering mails in the region this Saturday to get reorganized, the Post wishes to face the confinement measures and less staff by closing most of its networks.

As for Amazon, the company says this measure is absolutely temporary. It involves the French and Italian markets, it has been already announced for the American market.

Employees in our distribution centers will focus on the delivery and expedition of products clients need the most at the moment” online sale leader says.

Amazon adds they want to focus on important products such as basic products, medical gear and some products highly ordered. If you’ve been ordering products on Amazon, they will be delivered. Note that Amazon has said to reassess this offer regularly.

What are the products said to be currently vital?

  • Childcare products
  • Hygiene products
  • Home products
  • Health products
  • Grocery and animal food

In concrete words, it seems Amazon keeps taking all orders, but priority is given to vital products. Then, you’ll have to wait longer for non-essential orders.

As for third party vendors not selling on the Amazon platform, they will send their packages normally and directly.

As for French online store Cdiscount, same call: priority is given to essential orders and extended delivery period.

As for interventions carried out by Fnac and Darty to privates', artisans will not come to yours' in case of a TV that no longer works, but they will focus on "cold, cooking, washing" issues giving priority to large families and elderly people.
