Following lots of invectives from the government wishing to limit energy consumption, the City of Paris has released a municipal decree banning air-conditioned stores (or those heated in the winter) from letting their front doors open. Starting Monday July 25, those who dare do so expose themselves to a second class fine, which maximal amount is set to 150 euros. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo stated “this measure was submitted by the citizen convention for the climate and should have been instated much earlier by governmental decree”.
Les commerces climatisés devront désormais garder leurs portes fermées. Ces pratiques aberrantes doivent cesser dans le contexte actuel d’urgence climatique et de crise de l’énergie. https://t.co/VAgRLYTTtr

Paris Mayor also shared her lack of understanding given this anti-ecologic practice. Said “nonsensical”, it goes against the “pressing necessity to decrease the energy consumption now”, the mayor said in the decree signed this Friday July 22. Paris is not the only city to have made this decision. Earlier this month, cities of Bourg-en-Bresse, Lyon and Besançon did the same.
