Throughout the summer, several test events will take place to prepare for the Paris Olympic Games, expected in the summer of 2024, less than a year away. The process has already begun, on July 17, with a parade of boats on the Seine, to test possible flows on the river. The City of Paris has announced a whole series of events on its website.
On August 5 and 6, the marathon event will be tested in the Seine, as will the triathlon events from August 17 to 20. On August 19 and 20, the archery events will be tested on the esplanade des Invalides, on the occasion of the archery World Cup.
As a result, some disruption is to be expected in the areas concerned. On August 16, 19 and 20, from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on August 17 and 18, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., four-wheeled motorized vehicles will be banned from the city center. Navigation on the Seine will be halted on August 4, 5, 6, 16, 17, 18 and 20, from 2am to 11am, and on August 19, 2023, from 2am to midday. Finally, bus routes will be rerouted.
