Pain au chocolat, chausson aux pommes, croissant, pain aux raisins, pain au lait... viennoiseries are truly part of France's culinary heritage. And some are more popular than others. Such is the case of the croissant, which remains the favorite viennoiserie of the French.
As a result, many bakers offer it for sale. But how do you find your way around, and where can you find the best butter croissant near you? Every year, competitions are organized in the Paris region to find the best butter croissant in each département. Following on from the Greater Paris awards, the Yvelines Chamber of Trades and Crafts has now unveiled the results of the Yvelines 2024 Best Butter Croissant competition.
The 7th edition of this competition took place a few weeks ago. A resounding success, it brought together a large number of artisan bakers and patissiers from the Yvelines region. They all redoubled their efforts to demonstrate their know-how and win first place.
Organized by Olivier Gerard, head of the Fédération de la Boulangerie-Pâtisserie and the Syndicat patronal des Artisans Boulangers-Pâtissiers des Yvelines, the awards ceremony on June 5 rewarded Anthony Hamon of the Hamon bakery in Vaux-sur-Seine. The artisan won the competition for the best butter croissant in Yvelines, in the " Company Managers " category.
And this bakery in Vaux-sur-Seine had every reason to smile, as Aurore Buffet, who also works at the Hamon bakery, took third place in the " Employees" category. Meanwhile, Marin Levifve, from the same bakery, won the " Apprentice " category.
Elsewhere, Malik Amalou of the Du Levain et des Idées bakery in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine took 2nd place in the " Entrepreneurs " category. Finally, Romain Pinchon, from Maison Pinchon in Dammartin-en-Serve, took third place in the same category.
