It's a metro line that many Parisians use every day, without even knowing how old it is. So it's time to get up to date. This winter, line 10 - 11.7 km long and with 23 stations - celebrates its 100th anniversary!
On December 30, 1923, line 10 of the Paris metro welcomed its first passengers. On this precise date, line 10 opened between the Invalides and Croix-Rouge (now closed) stations. Line 10 was subsequently extended to Mabillon in 1925, to Odéon in 1926, and to Gare d'Austerlitz, the current terminus, in 1939. The first western extension to Boulogne - Jean Jaurès was inaugurated on October 3, 1980, while the western extension to Boulogne - Pont de Saint-Cloud opened on October 2, 1981.
Considered the least frequented line in the RATP network, excluding lines 3 bis and 7 bis, line 10 links Gare d'Austerlitz to Boulogne - Pont de Saint-Cloud, crossing from east to west the districts on the left bank of the Seine in the southern half of Paris, as well as the Auteuil district and the town of Boulogne-Billancourt. What's next? Line 10 will become the first to welcome the new-generation MF19 rolling stock, by 2026!
In the meantime, line 10 celebrates its 100th anniversary! And to mark the centenary of this famous line 10, RATP is organizing a host of free educational events on Saturday December 16 and Sunday December 17, as well as on Tuesday December 19, 2023. Concerts, dance, storytelling and exhibitions... immerse yourself in the history of line 10 through a varied program designed for young and old, lovers and enthusiasts of trains and the Paris metro!
