Five years after the fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, the statue of the Virgin Mary is set to return to the monument. This Friday, November 15, 2024, she will take to the streets of the capital in a procession from the church of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois to the cathedral forecourt.

The reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral is imminent! In the meantime, there are plenty of events to keep you waiting, such as the procession of the statue of the Virgin and Child, which will take place this Friday, November 15, 2024, at 6pm, starting from thechurch of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois. Miraculously saved from the terrible fire that disfigured the cathedral in 2019, the two-meter medieval statue will finally be back in its rightful place in the cathedral.

Representing Mary holding the Infant Jesus, it has been kept safely in the church of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois since the fire, after being found amidst the rubble, a symbol of hope for many faithful. To celebrate her reunion with the cathedral, a procession has been organized through the streets of the capital, covering just over a kilometer, from the church in the 1st arrondissement to theIle de la Cité, on the cathedral square, at the end of the day.

A torchlight vigil will accompany the procession and the statue's entry into the building, led by the"Pierres Vivantes" association. A historic moment open to all, believers and non-believers alike, to celebrate the long-awaited reopening of the cathedral. Since November 7, a replica of the statue has been visiting parishes, shrines and hospitals across Paris, offering a time of meditation and spiritual preparation.
