As a result, the SNCF is announcing possible disruptions to transport services in the Paris region and the introduction of specific measures " to guarantee passenger safety ".
" Following Météo France's announcement of an orange alert for "violent winds" for 21 departments, including the Iles de France region, due to storm Floriane, measures to guarantee the safety of passengers, trains and SNCF agents have been decided " for this Monday, January 6, SNCF announces.
In detail, these measures include " stop circulation " , " i.e. the preventive stopping of rail traffic on certain lines " of the RER and Transilien, explains the SNCF. The aim? To prevent trains with passengers on board from being blocked on the tracks by falling trees.
So which RER and Transilien lines are affected by these " traffic stops "? On the RER network, lines C and D are affected. While traffic will be interrupted on RER line C between Brétigny and Saint-Martin d'Étampes, and between Brétigny and Dourdan, from 10am to 3pm, trains will be at a standstill on RER line D between Corbeil and Malesherbes/Melun from 10am to 1pm.
On the Transilien network, 8 lines will be affected: J, K, L, N, P, R, U and V.
Tramway line T12 is also affected by this measure. Line T12 will be completely interrupted from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
SNCF is therefore advising passengers to check the train timetable for forthcoming departures in order to get to the station.
