With the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games just a year away, numerous celebration sites in Paris and the Île-de-France region have been unveiled. Totally free of charge, they will enable Parisians and the French to experience the Games to the full, alongside the athletes and players involved in the competition. While there are many such areas in the capital, the Seine-Saint-Denis département has one of the largest, in the heart of the Georges Valbon departmental park in La Courneuve.
From July 25 to August 11, 2024, then from September 6 to 8, 2024 during the Paralympic Games, from 2pm to 10pm, you can enjoy free concerts, sports and para-sports activities on the lake or on pitches set up for the occasion, but also workshops and animations, organized for the whole family. Canoeing, sailing, climbing wall, skatepark, 3x3 basketball - there's plenty of opportunity to try your hand at Olympic sports, while watching the events live on giant screens!
The third largest park in the Paris region, Georges-Valbon is a 410-hectare jewel of greenery, and Europe's only Natura 2000 site in an urban environment. Inaugurated with the hosting of the Olympic Torch Relay during an exceptional evening on Thursday, July 25, 2024, the eve of the opening ceremony of the Games, the site will be open for 17 days and is intended to be participatory. 6 exceptional evenings will feature national and international musical artists, while an 80m-high skyliner will give you a bird's eye view of the venue.
On the last weekend of the Paralympic Games, you can watch the start of the Para-Marathon and Mass Event, before the site closes. The Saint-Denis Canal will also be the scene of many festivities, linking Club France at La Villette, the Stade de France and the Olympic Aquatic Centre.
