Third medal for judo, bronze, like Shirine Boukli, on this second day of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. A sixth medal, which was almost gold, but Amandine Buchard lost in the semi-finals to Uzbek Diyora Keldiyorova. While Walide Khyar finished just off the podium, the women's under 52kg category brought us another medal, after a hard-fought battle with Hungary's Réka Pupp.
It took more than three minutes in the Golden Score for the Frenchwoman to overcome it, with difficulty. The judoka thanked the public, who "made the difference" for her and enabled her to fight all the way to victory. Very emotional after her fight, she explained that"losing this semi-final was very hard" and that she had"struggled to find the resources to fight for bronze".
But it's now a done deal, a new medal after the Tokyo Games, where she won individual silver and team gold!
