A medal that should have been gold, given how well the Franco-Georgian fought at theArena Champ-de-Mars. Having made a name for himself in Tokyo with an unexpected bronze medal, he faced Turkey's Salih Yildiz in the semi-finals in a bout that ended in a Golden Score. In the final, he met the Kazakh Yeldos Smetov, and was beaten by a waza-ari, despite a well fought match on his part and two shidos (penalties) for his opponent.
Obviously disappointed, the Frenchman remains"very happy", indicating that he should have "been a little more patient". "But I can't go back, it's still a great silver medal," he added on France Télévisions.
