This first week of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has brought good luck to Léon Marchand, our French swimmer, who has already won three gold medals in the space of a few days, with his first Olympic champion title on Sunday, and two in just one day, this Wednesday, July 31! These victories have thrilled the whole of France, and put France in a very good position this Thursday, in second place. And if Léon were a country, it would be ranked ninth!
On his own, with his three medals, he ranks ahead of Canada and Germany, who obviously have more medals in total but only 2 gold! And these Games aren't over yet for him, he could well surpass this position! Of course, as the days go by, the other countries will most certainly pick up gold medals and overtake him, but the performance remains exceptional.
The young man went down in history as the first swimmer to reach the top step of the podium twice in the same evening. And he's well on his way to breaking many more records, as the 200 m medley and 4x100 m medley relay get underway.
