A look back at the BAFTA Games Awards 2023, where the indie game Vampire Survivors surprised everyone by winning the title of best game, while God of War Ragnarök won five awards, including the Audience Award. Let's review!

The 19th edition of the BAFTA Games Awards was held on March 30 in London! This prestigious ceremony was held during the London Games Festival and rewarded the best video games of the year, with some surprises in store for this 2023 edition.

Starting with the title of best game of the year, awarded to Vampire Survivors, an independent software with minimalist graphics and style, where the player must survive against waves of monsters. The game also won the award for best design, surprising the video game industry. Meanwhile, the popular God of War Ragnarök won five awards, including Best Animation, Audio and Music, as well as Best Actor for Christopher Judge (Kratos) and Best Supporting Actor for Laya DeLeon Hayes (Angrboda). The title was also voted Game of the Year by the public.

Among the other winners, Elden Ring was awarded in the categories of Best License and Best Multiplayer Game, despite criticism of its server problems. The Bafta Games Awards 2023 highlighted both independent games and AAA productions, providing a diverse showcase for the video game industry. Note that the London Games Festival continues until April 8, highlighting the creative scene in the British capital, which has more than 700 game development studios.
