Which candidate will have the honor of winning the 68th edition ofEurovision? Who will succeed Loreen, the Swedish representative and last year's lucky winner? On May 11, 2024, fans of the Eurovision Song Contest will undoubtedly be following this new edition, broadcast on France 2 from Malmö in Sweden.
This year, 37 candidates are in the running, all determined to claim victory. But only one of them will have the honor of standing on the top step of the podium. Thanks to Slimane and his song " Mon amour ", France is hoping for another crown, following on from the 1977 success of Marie Myriam. But many other countries, including Croatia, have no intention of making up the numbers.
The country, represented this year by Baby Lasagna, has every chance of winning the 68th edition of Eurovision, according to the bookmakers, who now rank it first in the contest, just ahead of Swiss representative Nemo. For the time being, according to the predictions, Baby Lasagna has a 32% chance of winning this 2024 edition of Eurovision. Better still, according to the bookmakers, the Croatian artist has a 54% chance of being in the Top 3 and a 67% chance of appearing in the Top 5.
So who's behind Baby Lasagna, and what song will he be performing this spring in Malmö? We answer! Behind the Baby Lasagna project is singer-songwriter Marko Purišić. Unknown in France, Marko Purišić previously made a name for himself in Croatia with his band Manntra, in which he played guitar. It was also with this band that the artist presented himself in 2019 at Dora, the Croatian national selection for Eurovision. With the song " In the Shadows ", Manntra finished fourth in this national selection.
Since 2023, Marko Purišić has embarked on a solo career under the stage name Baby Lasagna. After unveiling two singles, " IG Boy " and " Don't Hate Yourself, But Don't Love Yourself too Much ", the artist decided to try his hand at Eurovision again. And it was with the song " Rim tim tagi dim " that Baby Lasagna qualified to represent Croatia this spring.
Revealing a clever blend of industrial metal, rock and techno sounds, the song " Rim tim tagi dim " leaves no one indifferent. Some will be quick to draw comparisons with the German band Rammstein, whose admiration Baby Lasagna makes no secret of, or even with Käärijä, the Finnish candidate who came second in 2023. The artist also relies on lyrics tinged with humor, while warning of several social challenges.
So will the song " Rim tim tagi dim ", taken from the artist's debut album entitled"Demons & Mosquitoes", win Baby Lasagna all the votes? See you soon to find out. Baby Lasagna gave a highly successful performance in the first semi-final on May 7, earning him a ticket to the grand final.
