The Musée Guimet celebrates the opening of the monumental "Guardians of Time" installations and the start of the Guimet x China 2024 year with a festive program featuring circus, choreographic journeys and traditional Chinese music, over the course of a weekend! To celebrate the opening of the Guimet x Chine 2024 year, the museum will be exceptionally open at night on Saturday April 27 until 9pm (last admission at 8:30pm).
The highlight of the weekend was a concert by the young talents of the "Silk and Bamboo" (Si zhu yue) music ensemble, a product of the Geneva Haute Ecole de Musique, in the class of Lingling Yu and Xavier Bouvier. This ensemble plays a style of ancient Chinese traditional music. The name refers to the types of instruments. Si refers to the silk used to make stringed instruments, while zhu refers to the wood used to make the traditional Chinese bamboo flute.
Most of the music featured in this concert was composed over 700 years ago. This concert will feature a piece for each instrument on its own, as well as ensemble pieces to help you discover the richness of this culture.
