On July 20, 2017, Linkin Park fans were in mourning. They learned with horror of the death of Chester Bennington, aged just 41. Since then, the American rock band had been on hiatus until last spring, when rumors of a reformation began to circulate. After a mysterious countdown published on the band's website, the announcement is now official. Linkin Park is indeed reforming, and is preparing to release a new album and hit the road again!
But who will replace Chester Bennington and sing alongside Mike Shinoda? Fans were able to find out during an exclusive live broadcast on YouTube, held in Los Angeles on September 5. And it was none other thanEmily Armstrong who was chosen to join Linkin Park as co-singer!
So, who is she? Emily Armstrong is a singer, songwriter and musician. But she's best known as the lead singer of the hard rock band Dead Sara. Formed in Los Angeles in 2005 around Emily Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Sean Friday (drums), Siouxsie Medley (guitar) and Chris Null (guitar, bass), Dead Sara made their mark with the hit single " Weatherman ", taken from their self-titled debut album"Dead Sara", released in 2012.
Proof of their renown, in 2012 the band received the " Best New Rock Band " award at the third Vegas Rocks! Magazine Awards. Since then, Dead Sara has released two further albums,"Pleasure to Meet You" in 2015 and"Ain't It Tragic" in 2021.
Born in California in 1986, Emily Armstrong has also made several studio and live appearances alongside Beck, Demi Lovato and The Offspring, as on the track " Gone Away ".
Many appreciate her powerful, raspy voice. Some even compare her to the legendary Janis Joplin. There's no doubt thatEmily Armstrong will breathe new life into Linkin Park!
In addition to Emily Armstrong, Colin Brittain, songwriter and producer of G Flip, Illenium and One OK Rock, also joins Linkin Park to replace former drummer Rob Bourdon.
With Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave Farrell aka Phoenix and Joe Hahn, they are preparing to play a series of concerts around the world. What's on the agenda? Shows in Los Angeles, New York, Seoul and Bogota. On the Old Continent, only two dates have been announced so far, the first in Hamburg on September 22, 2024, and the second in London on September 24, 2024.
