After 30 years of thrilling a passionate public, the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy is about to undergo a major modernization project.
In 2015, the Bercy Arena, a genuine place for living and sharing, open to the city and its neighborhood, will see the light of day, offering a space 100% dedicated to emotion and dreams.
A true multicultural showcase, a symbol of unforgettable experiences, Bercy Arena will welcome the greatest artists, champions of all disciplines and their biggest fans, for exceptional events!
Described as larger, more functional, more welcoming and better integrated into its urban environment, the Bercy Arena will open its doors to the public in October 2015 after 18 months of construction.
In terms of image, the famous pyramid of glass, concrete and grass will still be visible. But the building will be given a resolutely modern face thanks to a series of major transformations.
To this end, the surface area of the public spaces will be doubled, thanks in particular to the creation of a vast 2,500 m² reception hall in front of the existing structure. Steps will be eliminated and the forecourt will be linked to a footbridge leading to the Parc de Bercy and the François Mitterrand library.
And that's not all: the hall will also feature suspended balconies, increasing its capacity from 17,000 to over 20,000.
Work began on March 3, but Paris Bercy plans to reopen from October to December 2014, making way for concerts by Stromae and Elton John.
Completion of the works and opening of the hall are scheduled forOctober 2015. Cost of the works? 100 million euros, entirely financed by the Société anonyme d'exploitation du Palais omnisports de Paris-Bercy (the "SAE POPB"), responsible for managing the Bercy Arena until 2046.
