Tchaikovsky's famous ballet, The Nutcracker, arrives on the Paris stage in a new version. Spanish choreographer Blanca Li re-orchestrates the show in a creation featuring authentic Iberian hip-hop.

The famous Nutcracker ballet arrives on the Théâtre Libre stage in a revisited version next autumn. Are you a fan of urban dance? Tchaikovsky's ballet takes on a new form under the direction of Spanish choreographer Blanca Li. The classical dance performance is transformed into an urban dance show, with hip-hop choreography linked to the original story. A version we can't wait to discover.

Linking Russian soul and Spanish flamboyance, Blanca Li revisits the universal and popular story of The Nutcracker using her own techniques: hip-hop, cultural cross-fertilization and a talented cast. At the Théâtre Libre in Paris, you'll find eight dancers on stage, set to the music of virtuoso Tchaikovsky, whose talent is rooted as much in their Hispanic culture as in authentic Iberian hip-hop.

The Nutcracker tells the story of Clara, who receives a soldier-shaped nutcracker for Christmas. At midnight, the toy comes to life, and leads a merciless battle against the Mouse King. After victory, the nutcracker transforms into a prince and takes Clara on an enchanted journey to the Kingdom of Delights, where they witness exotic dances that will probably turn into hip-hop dances in Blanca Li's show in their honor.

Blanca Li is a Spanish choreographer, dancer and director renowned for her bold, innovative creations. After studying with Martha Graham in New York, in 1933 she founded her own dance company, Blanca Li Dance Company, in Paris, where she mainly lives and works. Blanca Li is renowned for her ability to blend different dance styles in her performances, including hip-hop, contemporary dance and traditional Spanish influences. A member of of the Académie des Beaux-Arts, she has choreographed for prestigious institutions such as theOpéra de Paris, and has collaborated with renowned artists such as Daft Punk and Paul McCartney.

His new show, The Nutcracker, can be seen at the Théâtre Libre in Paris from October 30, 2024 to January 4, 2025.
