"La Femme n'existe plus ", performed at the Théâtre du Rond-Point at the end of the year, is a play that, right from its title, questions gender, identity and place in society. The play was created by Céline Fuhrer and Jean-Luc Vincent, two names renowned for their ability to push back the boundaries of scenic expression. Their work together has given birth to the lively work that is the play, skilfully blending humour, social criticism and introspection.
The inventive, hard-hitting staging, conceived with Valérie Karsenti and Cédric Moreau, brings together a group of four women evoking figures such as Simone de Beauvoir, Delphine Seyrig, Françoise Dolto and Annie Le Brun, who could just as easily conjure up Virginie Despentes or Alice Coffin. In the synopsis, these female characters, hidden in a tunnel, prepare to fight against a ruling party advocating a reinforced patriarchy named "GRAF, Grand Retour Aux Fondamentaux".
Together, they forge a plot that is both comic and insightful, offering an invigorating reflection on feminism, the play is a mirror held up to our society, reflecting our prejudices, our fears, and our aspirations. The actors' performance is a key element of the piece, contributing to the audience's engagement with the story and characters, combined with Fuhrer and Vincent's immersive artistic approach and its ability to provoke questioning in the audience. " La Femme n'existe plus" fits into this approach, offering a theatrical proposition that challenges and invites reflection, from December 6 to 31, 2023, at the Théâtre du Rond-Point.
