Inconnu à cette adresse: the adaptation of the cult novel returns to the Théâtre Antoine

Since the start of performances of Kressmann Taylor'sInconnu à cette adresse , there's been nothing but successful actors: Thierry Lhermitte, Patrick Timsit, Gérard Darmon, Richard Berry and Franck Dubosc, Stéphane Guillon and Gaspard Proust, then Jean-Paul Rouve and Elie Semoun. What a line-up! Today, you'll have the chance to see Jean-Pierre Darroussin and Stéphane Guillon on stage at the Théâtre Antoine, in a new production by Jérémie Lippmann.

Written in the form of a literary correspondence, Kressmann Taylor's text , publishedin the USA in 1938, has been reworked for the stage by Michèle Levy-Bram. At the heart of Taylor's text are Martin and Max, two men who correspond at a time when the Second World War is in full swing and the rise of Nazism is obvious. As the exchanges progress, the tone dries up and we witness the infiltration of Nazi ideology into the ideas of one of the two characters.

The play, directed by Delphine de Malherbe , was awarded the Globe de Cristal 2013. Considered a useful and necessary play for many years, it continues to win over a large number of spectators. Jeremie Lippmann has chosen a sober staging at the Théâtre Antoine, highlighting Kressmann Taylor 's text and the actors' performance.

Kressmann Taylor, whose pseudonym is Kathrine Kressmann Taylor, is an American writer best known for her short story Unknown at this Address. The short story, originally published in a literary magazine, had an enormous impact and remains today a powerful work on the complicity and dangers of fascist ideology, as demonstrated by its adaptation at the Théâtre Antoine. Taylor chose to write under a male pseudonym at the time, as her publisher considered the work too harsh to be written by a woman.
