Art and fabric lovers are invited to the Palais de Tokyo to discover an exhibition of works by German artist Ulla von Brandenburg, entitled Le Milieu est Bleu, from February 21, 2020 to January 3, 2021. A retrospective that runs in parallel with the cultural establishment's brand-new season, Fragmenter le Monde. The exhibition is closed until further notice.
For this exhibition, Ulla von Brandenburg has imagined"a total and evolving project, inspired by theater, its imaginary and its conventions", around the notion of ritual as"a possibility to explore the relationships between the individual and the group, to create or not to create the common". The idea? Take part in"an immersive, renewed experience of the themes, forms and motifs that inform his work: movement, the stage, color, music, textiles".
Performances, sculptures and other installations respond to each other and intertwine"in an open narrative, between authenticity and artifice, the natural world and human activities, interior and exterior, fiction and reality". And the omnipresent fabric allows the artist to hide the immense white cube that is the museum. Fabrics that allow you to travel into another universe,"into a space where curtains hang", where"the separation between inside and outside, or between different worlds, becomes blurred". A new world opens up to you through a colorful, ultra-immersive exhibition... Shall we go?
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
