Microbes, bacteria: these are bodies scaring us and we try to get rid of. But these beings get bad press: they create wonderful elements, often highly appreciated! From June 8 to September 11, 2022, the musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac takes us to discover these microbial worlds with an exhibition mixing art and sciences.
Scientific tools, ethnographic objects, contemporary art pieces allow us to better understand the place and usefulness of these microbes. These bodies – invisible to the naked eye – become art patterns when revealed by scientific tools. They inspire designers and allow to exorcise the fear attached to these unknown enemies.
Art and science go hand in hand, to show us more about the world living around us. For if these bodies can make us sick, they are also a source of life! They are found in our food, drinks, they are the link between us and the outside world. By studying them, discover their beauty and creation power: microbial worlds within our world.
By zooming in on the infinitely small, this exhibition shows the world, in all its width and complexity. A genuine masterpiece where each detail, each element, as small as it can be, matters…
A great exhibition to discover at the same time as Power and Prestige.
