Espace Richaud honors two renowned photographers: André Kertész and Jacques Henri Lartigue. We invite you to come and admire the works of these two twentieth-century artists, each with a very different style. From February 15 to May 14, 2023, come and discover the exhibition Un pas de côté.
One is called "the greatest amateur of the 20th century", the other is considered " the inventor of photojournalism ". Both have left their mark on the world of photography, with their unique work, free from the constraints of fashionable trends, with an imperishable aesthetic. André Kertész and Jacques Henri Lartigue photographed the world they saw in front of them, with no tricks. By capturing these moments on the spot, they bear witness to the beauty of men and women, to the poetry that surrounds every seemingly insignificant moment.
This exhibition brings together 185 black-and-white photographs and archival documents that reveal the practices and secrets of these two artists' original careers.
The exhibition is divided into five chapters, presenting the great successes of both men, their paths in the world of photography and the decisive influences and encounters in their lives.
Over the years - and along the way - we see the photographers assert themselves, find their style and achieve the recognition they deserve. Both artists have their own very personal style, but we can see in their respective works the talent that enables them to tell a whole story in a single shot.
Don't miss this beautiful photo exhibition, which makes the world a more beautiful place!
