Myriam Mihindou has been invited to take over the Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière gallery at the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac from February 6 to November 10, 2024. For the occasion, the Franco-Gabonese contemporary artist unveils an immersive sound work, conceived in resonance with the collection of musical instruments held by the famous Parisian museum.

Myriam Mihindou invites us to discover a multi-faceted work designed as a tribute to Punu culture. From February 6 to November 10, 2024, the Franco-Gabonese artist will be taking over the famous Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière gallery at the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, to unveil an immersive sound installation that not only allows the public to see and hear, but also to feel the contemporary artist's relationship with her culture. Her culture is that of the Punu people, who live mainly in southern Gabon, but also in the Republic of Congo, in the Niari region.

Myriam Mihindou uses a variety of techniques to create this original work, which resonates with the collection of musical instruments housed in the famous Paris museum, including the assembly of objects, sculpture, ceramics and sound.

Through this installation, to be discovered for 5 months in the Quai Branly Museum's Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière gallery, artist, visual artist and performer Myriam Mihindou intends to honor the memory of the Punu weepers, considered to be the soul attendants who guide the dead to the afterlife and the living through their mourning.

Having already exhibited several times in Paris (at the Musée Dapper in 2007, at the Galerie Maïa Muller in 2013, 2016 and 2018, and at the Chapelle Saint Séverin in 2018), Myriam Mihindou is this time taking over the Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, and more precisely the cultural monument's Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière gallery, to unveil an immersive, multi-faceted work not to be missed from February 6 to November 10, 2024.
