As a prolific artist, Sonia Delaunay was never encumbered by rules and barriers: she was as interested in painting as she was in design, graphics, fashion or drawing. A single art gallery would not be enough to contain all the artist's works... That's why Galerie Roger-Viollet and Galerie Zlotowski are jointly presenting the exhibition Sonia Delaunay, la simultanée.
From October 3 to November 16, 2024, the two galleries on rue de la Seine will host dozens of works, each in its own way recounting the life and career of this great 20th-century artist.
Galerie Zlotowski showcases a wide range of works, from fashion designs to tapestry projects , lithographs, paintings, book covers and playing card drawings. This diverse collection reflects Sonia Delaunay's beliefs and creative style. The artist loved mixing mediums, exploring, experimenting, creating in different media at the same time, creating links between the arts. Known for her colorful, abstract designs, she defied order and custom with her innovative style.
Galerie Roger-Viollet has added a selection of photographs that bring the artist back to life. These include her creative colleagues and friends, and the places she frequented... This collaboration allows us to admire Sonia Delaunay's works, but also to see them in context, on the walls of her apartment, worn by other artists. The works live on, then and now!
