The Musée du Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac is hosting the exhibition Objets en Questions in the Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière gallery from February 11 to June 22, 2025. The exhibition explores the links between archaeology, ethnology and avant-garde art during the interwar period in France. Through works, notes and sketches, it questions the notion of the art object and the ways in which it is conceived and presented. An approach that offers an unprecedented perspective on these disciplines.
Divided into four thematic sections, the Musée du Quai Branlyexhibition focuses on the interactions between different cultural and artistic worlds. Among them, the "Terrains" section highlights the role of field collecting in the discovery of unusual objects, while "Fouilles" explores the excavation process and its resonance with artistic research. The concepts of "Exquisite Cadavers" and "Double Museum" question traditional classifications and modes of presentation of objects in museums.
The museumexhibition is supported by the Fondation Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière, which contributed to its conception and financing. " I am delighted with the opening of Objets en Question, whose original theme [...] will undoubtedly arouse the curiosity and enthusiasm of visitors ", explains Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière, founder of the foundation. An invitation to rethink objects and their role in our understanding of art and cultures.
